In celebration of World Ocean’s Day, this special webinar explores the unique wildlife and fragile ecosystems of the Salish Sea, and how we can all play a role in protecting them.

Guest speakers:

  • Joe Daniels (Parks Canada) shares insights on whales in the Salish Sea, the importance of land-based whale watching, and how citizen science tools like the Whale Report app are making a difference.

  • Dana Medernach (Fisheries and Oceans Canada – Whale Protection Unit) highlights how federal protections are helping reduce human impacts on marine mammals, and how the public can contribute by being informed observers on the water.

Presented as part of Surrey’s Environmental Extravaganza, this event highlights the power of community awareness and action to protect BC’s coastal ecosystems.
