Friends of Semiahmoo Bay Society

Friends of Semiahmoo Bay Society is a provincially registered, non-profit, society working as environmental stewards in conservation, education and restoration in Boundary Bay and the Fraser River delta.

Mission Statement

To preserve, restore and raise knowledge of the ecological values of the Boundary Bay Ecosystem and its watershed FoSBS incorporated as a Society under the Society Act, April 6, 2001.

Purposes of Friends of Semiahmoo Bay Society are:

a) To participate in the rehabilitation of the estuarine, marine and watershed habitats of Semiahmoo Bay, Boundary Bay, Birch Bay and Drayton Harbor.

b) To participate in the inventory of the history and current status of all biotic elements of the receiving waters and watershed (including fish and shellfish, intertidal life, shoreline and shallow water vegetation and water quality and circulation.)

c) To join with First nations and other stewardship groups to develop training and educational programs for schools, community groups and members of the public that include public participatory events and specific projects such as community and shoreline mapping, native planting and removal of invasive non-native species, water quality monitoring, shoreline cleanups and installation of educational signage.

d) To raise funds to create marine/estuarine/watershed educational centres within this ecosystem.
