February 2nd, 2022 marks World Wetland's Day and the Friends of Semiahmoo Bay Society's 5th annual WWD event. This year, we are once again hosting a Webinar via Zoom online to allow anyone from anywhere to attend and learn along with us. Please RSVP to receive the webinar link. If you are unable to attend live, we will share a recording following the live event (the recording will also be hosted on this blog post).
As part of FoSBS' mission to preserve, restore and raise knowledge of the ecological values of the Boundary Bay Ecosystem and its watershed, we look forward to celebrating this day with you!
Right under our noses and in our backyards is a ton of wonderful biodiversity that we learn more and more about every day. As nearby as Blackie Spit, Elgin Heritage Park, and Mud Bay Park, new technology and age-old monitoring strategies are being employed to assess our wetlands' health and determine the best course of action for conservation and restoration. Hear from presenters who are involved with and
spearheading local projects in our watershed from invasive species to population monitoring, including our own European Green Crab Invasive Monitoring and Removal. Learn how to get involved in these initiatives whether it's getting your boots on the ground and getting muddy with FoSBS or taking action at home to better wetland restoration on your end.
Presenters:
Ben Kavanaugh, Ducks Unlimited
Marina Wright, Department of Fisheries and Oceans Canada
Ayla Markowski, Friends of Semiahmoo Bay Society
