Discovery Days - Guided Nature Programs
10am - 2pm

Every Thursday you can meet a nature guide who will get you started with your discoveries on our trails and in the forest. Check out our Heritage museum exhibit, create an eco-craft and learn something new about Surrey’s parks and natural areas with our interactive Exploration Boxes. Bring a picnic lunch and enjoy your self-guided exploration through the many special places we have to offer. FREE – Drop in for all ages. Rain or shine!

New – this monthly activity is a chance for children (with their parents) to enjoy two hours of outdoor fun. Activities include hiking, games, wildlife observations, outdoor art, and more!

A 3 km nature walks through Terra Nova natural area and Terra Nova Rural Park. Meet at the Community Gardens at the west end of Westminster Highway. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

A Rocha welcomes the public to visit our BC Field Study Centre and participate in various volunteer projects on site. Guided site tours and a wholesome community lunch are also on offer to visitors so please let us know if you plan to attend so we know how much food to make.

Evening Walk for Wildlife and Wildflowers
7pm - 9pm 

Evenings at Maplewood are delightful with birds singing, a chance to see bats and swifts, possible a mother deer and her fawn, and to enjoy the summer wildflowers. Walks go rain or shine.

Little Campbell River Paddle
6pm - 9pm

The Little Campbell River is steeped in history dating back to the early 1900’s. Running through the Semiahmoo First Nations Reserve it provides a glimpse of the local area prior to urbanization. The banks of the Little Campbell are a home to many shorebirds, herons, kingfishers and eagles. This river is tidal influenced and the spawning grounds for a variety of species of salmon.

Hastings Park - Nature Walk at the Sanctuary
7pm - 9pm

Over 106 species of birds have been identified in this urban wilderness. Learn about birds, plants, trees, flowers, aquatic life and more. We want you to share our amazing eastside Vancouver secret on this free guided nature walk. Bring binoculars if you have them, but please leave your dogs at home.

Celebrating the Purple Martin and Osprey at Maplewood

Help us celebrate two of BC’s great conservation success – martins and ospreys. See one of the provinces largest Purple Martin colonies, watch ospreys at their nesting dolphins offshore. Scopes provided.

Pitt River Greenway Cycling Tour
2pm - 4pm

A park interpreter will accompany you on a guided bicycle tour along this narrow band between peaceful farms and the Fraser River. Stop along the way to learn about river creatures like sturgeon and beaver and hear about local history. Tasty snacks will be provided. Bring your bike and helmet. Ages 13+
